Why do we offer grow outs?
Some people want to skip the chick stage, are not set up for chicks or want a flock protector. Others want to expand their flock or are looking for specific breeds. 2-4 times per year we offer a limited quantity of purebred hens, roosters and unsexed chickens. We do the hard work and get them started well in life.
Because of the way we hand raise our chicks, many people who purchase from us keep them as house chickens or pets.
How we raise them:
We purchase day old chicks and eggs from NPIP breeders. Our chickens are ethically raised with a lot of love and care. They are handled and hand raised from hatching. They are happy healthy and living a free ranged life chasing bugs, digging in the compost pile and sun bathing their fluffy butts. Once they are feathered in and off heat they are acclimated to being in all weather without additional heat. They have access to their coop which is always dry.
All our chickens are vaccinated against Merricks Disease.
We offer our chickens an organic feed appropriate for their needs, supplements like calcium and grit for digestion. They get organic scratch daily and treats like cabbage and apples. They have unlimited access to their own worm farm compost and all the bugs and organics they gather while free ranging and foraging.
Each chicken will come with transition feed.
