About Our Foster Program

Welcome to Shady Grove Community Adoption Program!

Our program was established officially in 2022 after seeing a desperate need for support due to the pandemic of 2020. Many places who fostered small pets closed operations and never reopened. Since we have an established relationship in the bunny community, people reached out to us for help. as this happened more and more, we felt compelled to help the community in need, families and animals. We are not a "non-profit", our foster program is funded by us. Some of the primary ways we fund our program is from foster adoption fees and the sales of our products and services. We do accept donations of supplies and money but this is not common and we don't rely on it.

Our Community Program connects adoptable surrendered and abandoned pets with loving forever homes! We primarily work with domestic rabbits but we do accept and work with other animals in our program.

We do not accept wildlife. Please contact your local wildlife rehabilitator.

Helpful Information:

  • Our Community Program connects adoptable surrendered and abandoned pets with loving forever homes! We primarily work with domestic rabbits but we do accept other animals into our program.
  • Our foster fuzzies are completely separate from our Bunny Nursery. For health and safety none of the animals are comingled. The only exception for this would be if a family wants to adopt and bond a bunny from both our Foster Program and our Bunny Nursery. We will selectively and individually bond companions in a 3rd space. You can ask us for recommendation on this also.
  • There is no fee to surrender to us. Our goal is to be accessible to the entire community in need of help without a financial paywall. After listening to and meeting all types of families over the years we strongly believe in this.
  • Each fuzzy bean that is accepted into the program goes through pre-adoption health and social/emotional assessments, preventative internal and external parasite treatments, a full groom that includes nail trim, teeth trim (if applicable) and other care as they need.
  • We create an adoption plan for each adoptable and it's catered to their individual needs. Families who adopt agree to their adoption plan. Adoption plans often include things like needed lifelong medical treatment, mandatory spay/neuter, free roaming only, dietary needs and similar.
  • Each bunny will also go through litterbox training if not already established.
  • Other small pets may or may not use a litter box and will have different litterbox habits but we do introduce and work on good potty habits with them if it's appropriate.
  • Fosters that are part of our Community Adoption Program are available to Indoor Only Pet Homes and have a lifelong no breeding contract.
  • You can find our current adoptable Fosters on the Available Adoptable Fosters page.
  • Detailed information about each foster animal is listed on their adoption profile.
  • Our program space is limited due to the high level of care we give each foster. We make considerations on a case by case basis. Please ask. Please reach out!
  • Anyone can surrender to us for any reason. Our goal is to education and support.
  • We offer lifetime support for all of our adoptions.
  • All of the animals listed here are in our care and located in Beaverton, Oregon unless otherwise noted on their profile page.
  • We are now accepting Foster Parent Applications - So if you are interested in becoming a Shady Grove Foster Parent please fill out an application.
  • We do have transport and shipping services available. Check out those respective pages.
  • If you have questions, please reach out to us.
  • Adoptions are on a first come first served basis. You can reserve an available foster at any point through their adoption profile.
  • We offer extensive information on our website to get you started on basic care.
  • Any supplies donated will be offered to their adoptive family, donated to the Foster Program or donated to another person in need.
  • We do require in person meet and greets for some animals, like birds or special needs cases. This ensures a successful adoption.
