Novogen Brown (Young Layer Hens)
Why do we offer grow outs ready to lay?
Some people want to skip the chick stage and get right to business with getting eggs. Others want to expand their flock or are looking for specific breeds. We always get extras of each breed we raise for others to enjoy once they reach maturity and are ready to lay eggs. We do the hard work and get them started well in life.
How we raise them:
Our chickens are ethically raised with a lot of love and care. They are handled and hand raised from hatching. They are happy healthy girls living a free ranged life chasing bugs, digging in the compost pile and sun bathing their fluffy butts. They are acclimated to being in all weather without additional heat. They have access to their coop which is always dry.
All our chickens are vaccinated against Merricks Disease.
These girls were hatched September 2023 - currently 5 months and have started laying over the past 2 weeks or will be any day now.
We offer our chickens an organic feed appropriate for their needs, supplements like calcium and grit for digestion. They get organic scratch daily and treats like cabbage and apples. The girls have unlimited access to their own worm farm compost and all the bugs and organics they gather while free ranging and foraging.
