Social/Emotional: Morticia is the mom of Wednesday. They are bonded together and have a really great relationship. They love being together. Morticia has more handling experience and does better with handling than Wednesday. But they are both very sweet, incredibly curious and friendly. Both girls are intelligent and very food and treat motivated. They take snacks from us and enjoy fresh foraging herbs/flowers every few days. We freely give Chinchilla Pellet Food, water and a mix of Timothy Hay and Orchard Grass at all times. They also have a treat ball that dispenses small treats when they play with it. We also provide them with apple sticks and other chew sources to ensure mental and physical stimulation. This also includes a large running wheel that is 18" to ensure they have adequate space for running. Many hidey places, jumping and climbing toys.
Since being with us and establishing a relationship, we've been handling the girls daily and they've blossomed! Morticia is a huge cuddle bug and loves to snuggle right into your neck. Wednesday is learning and coming around and has started to enjoy snuggling. Both girls like to sit on your shoulder. They also enjoy time out of their house and a safe place to run and jump around.
Special Adoption Accommodations: Part of adoption will require some planning and accommodations on your part: chinchillas CANNOT get too hot. They must have access to Air Cooling in the hot months along with cooling stones. Otherwise they will overheat in temperatures over 75 degrees maximum. They need dust baths 2-3 times per week. Their living space should be a large safe enclosure with lots of toys, a 16" or larger solid metal running wheel. The bar spacing being no more than 1" in width or solid, like the Clearly Loved Pets Enclosure. You will need to have a cover on it. We will send home a care guide at adoption outlining basics and we are happy to help upon adoption to ensure a good home.
